Job summary

Jobot is looking for an experienced Controller to oversee accounting operations and financial reporting in a hands-on leadership role. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
• Experience in a Controller, Assistant Controller, or Accounting Manager role.
• Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
• Experience with month-end close, budgeting, forecasting, and audits.
• Familiarity with subscription-based, recurring revenue, digital media, publishing, or information services business models is desirable.
• Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills.
• Experience with ERP/accounting systems and advanced Excel.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and month-end/year-end close.
• Manage the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements and management reporting.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial analysis.
• Establish and maintain effective internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures.
• Coordinate annual audits, tax filings, and other external financial reporting requirements.
• Partner with executive leadership and department heads to provide financial insights and support strategic decision-making.
• Oversee financial reporting across multiple revenue streams, including subscriptions, advertising, sponsorships, digital media, and events.
• Monitor revenue recognition, deferred revenue, and subscription-related accounting.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team.
