Job summary

Vaco seeks an experienced Controller to lead all accounting and financial operations for a growing heavy/civil construction company in Ohio. You will oversee financial reporting, job costing, AP/AR, payroll, budgeting, cash flow, and compliance, partnering with executive leadership, estimating, and project management.

The role offers the opportunity to influence business strategy, financial performance, and long-term growth within a collaborative leadership team.

Qualifications

Must have strong GAAP knowledge and ability to manage all financial reporting tasks.
Experience in job costing, WIP reporting, and project profitability analysis.
Proven leadership of accounting teams and collaboration with executives and project management.

Responsibilities

Lead accounting operations including AP, AR, payroll, GL, and reconciliations.
Manage job costing, WIP reporting, change orders, and project profitability analysis.
Oversee monthly and annual GAAP-based financial reporting.
Drive collections and ensure timely project billings.
Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and bonding capacity.
Coordinate audits, tax filings, and regulatory compliance.
Oversee union payroll and certified payroll reporting.
Lead and develop the accounting team and improve controls.
