Job summary

Apex Systems seeks a senior Control Validation Security Specialist to independently audit complex systems for proper controls and compliance with DoD standards. The role emphasizes vulnerability assessment, risk evaluation, and security improvements across classified and unclassified networks.

Candidate must hold an active Secret clearance (no sponsorship) and IAT Level II, with 2–4+ years in DoD/NIST RMF/eMASS environments. On-site work at facilities in the Fort Belvoir area is typical.

Qualifications

• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance (no sponsorship).
• 2-4+ years of DoD/NIST, RMF and eMASS experience.
• Experience with DoD controls, ICAM validation, evidence review, gaps.
• Proficient in Excel and Access for data analysis and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Independently performs IT audits on complex information systems and enclaves.
• Evaluates security levels and ensures compliance with Federal and DoD standards.
• Ensures safety of information systems assets and protection from threats.
• Delivers cybersecurity control validation on classified and unclassified networks.
• Provides technical support in vulnerability assessment and risk management.
• Assists customers with security improvements and evaluations.
