Job summary

Northern Trust is seeking a Sr Consultant to join its newly established Centralized 1LoD Control Testing function. The role focuses on standardizing and enhancing control testing practices across Business Units and Corporate Functions, supporting risk management across the organization.

As a key team member, you will conduct risk-based control reviews, execute tests, and analyze results to identify trends and solutions, with opportunities to specialize in areas of interest.

Qualifications

• College or university degree is required and 5+ years of risk and control testing experience.
• Experience in the financial services industry, including regulatory experience.
• Understanding of control frameworks and testing methodologies.
• Self-motivated with strong collaboration and communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Excellent analytics skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to juggle multiple tasks while meeting deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Leads and executes controls testing, walkthroughs, design, and operating effectiveness testing.
• Ensures all testing activities are documented in prescribed templates and methodologies.
• Drafts reporting and incorporates feedback from Test Lead/Manager review.
• Identifies and escalates follow-ups and potential deficiencies.
• Collaborates with stakeholders to remediate risk areas and improve operations/compliance.
• Assists with control projects and other risk initiatives as directed.
