We’re looking for a Senior Level Control Systems Engineer to join our team! This position will focus on executing specialized work efficiently, with confidence and competence. The position requires above average attention to detail, concern for correctness of work, and strong commitment to customer satisfaction. The person in this position will have a strong sense of duty and discipline. The position will generally be task oriented, requiring someone with a conservative, careful, and cautious approach to work.
General Job Duties
- Perform GrayMatter services to meet client needs, with a specific focus on DCS control systems
- Design and develop automated process solutions for chemical manufacturing facilities
- Be an active project team contributor for projects of all sizes
- Assist in project development and planning
- Perform onsite start-up, troubleshooting, and commissioning assistance
- Required pre-employment drug screen and background check
- This position requires occasional, but not extensive, travel
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Needed
- Bachelor’s Degree in an applicable field (ChE, EE, EET, ME, MET or comparable). An equivalent combination of experience and training may also be considered.
- Experience with ABB 800xA distributed control system (DCS)
- Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience with:

- DCS platforms (ABB, Emerson DeltaV, Honeywell, Schneider/Foxboro, etc.)
- PLC platforms experience preferred (Allen‑Bradley, Modicon, Siemens, etc.)
- Field start-up, troubleshooting, and commissioning
- Working knowledge of process systems and pressure, temperature, flow control, and loop tuning
- Understanding of Electrical Schematics, instrumentation, and control concepts
- Control Systems implementation, design, installs, testing, and troubleshooting
- Acute attention to detail and process, strong ability to solve problems and research solutions with an excellent customer service attitude

Preferred Experience
- DOWTRAN/MOD5 programming and/or hardware experience
- AutoCAD or drafting experience
- Networking experience (Ethernet IP, Modbus, etc.)
Target annual base compensation range: $120,000 - $170,000, based upon relevant qualifications.
