Job summary

VIRGINIA TRANSFORMER INDIA PRIVATE LIMITED is seeking a Senior Control Design Expert for power transformers to own control and auxiliary wiring designs, including cabinets, cooling equipment, and interface with customer protection relays. You will collaborate with US-based engineering and manufacturing teams on North American projects.

The role requires leadership in control design, experience with CAD tools, and strong knowledge of electrical standards.

Qualifications

• BE/B.Tech in Electrical or Electrical & Electronics Engineering or equivalent.
• Strong experience in transformer control engineering.
• Hands-on with transformer control panel design, wiring and cooling control.
• Experience with AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN.
• Knowledge of IEEE/ANSI, NEC or project-specific electrical requirements.
• Exposure to North American transformer projects is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and review transformer control schematics and diagrams.
• Design marshalling cabinets, local control panels and layouts.
• Create automatic/manual cooling control logic.
• Integrate protection interfaces to relays/SCADA/PLC/IED systems.

ROLE OVERVIEW

Provide senior technical ownership of control and auxiliary wiring designs for oil-immersed power transformers, including control cabinets, marshalling boxes, cooling equipment, monitoring/protection interfaces and customer-specific control schemes. Support transformer projects for the North American market and collaborate closely with US-based engineering, manufacturing and testing teams.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop and independently review transformer control schematics, wiring diagrams, interconnection diagrams, terminal plans and cable schedules.
• Design marshalling cabinets, local control panels, panel layouts, component arrangements and auxiliary power circuits.
• Develop automatic/manual control logic for transformer cooling fans, oil pumps, temperature indicators, alarms and interlocks.
• Integrate pressure relief devices, oil-level and temperature indicators, Buchholz relays where specified, and other transformer accessories.
• Define alarm, trip, indication and monitoring interfaces to customer protection relays, SCADA, RTU, PLC or IED systems as specified.
• Select relays, contactors, fuses, miniature circuit breakers, wiring, terminal blocks and control components to match project specifications.
• Ensure schematic consistency with engineering BOMs, panel drawings, equipment documentation and customer specifications.
• Conduct design reviews, drawing checks, control logic verification and wiring/functional test support for US manufacturing teams.
• Investigate wiring discrepancies, control malfunctions, drawing errors and customer comments; propose root-cause-based corrections.
• Create reusable standard drawings, component libraries and documentation; support CAD automation and revision control.
• Mentor control design engineers and coordinate technical resolutions with electrical, mechanical, quality and project teams.

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE

• B.E./B.Tech in Electrical / Electrical & Electronics Engineering or equivalent relevant education.
• Strong direct experience in transformer control engineering; approximately 1215+ years preferred for this expert position.
• Hands-on proficiency in transformer control panel design, wiring, cooling control and accessory/protection interfaces.
• Experience with AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN or similar electrical schematic/CAD tools.
• Knowledge of customer specifications and applicable IEEE/ANSI, NEC or other project-specific electrical requirements.
• Exposure to North American transformer/utility projects and US manufacturing testing is an advantage.
