Job summary

The Smithsonian Institution seeks an experienced Attorney-Advisor (Contract) to manage the full lifecycle of complex federal contracting actions, with a focus on information technology procurements. You will serve as Contracting Officer and drive acquisition planning, solicitation, negotiation, and closeout for high-value programs in a national museum and research context.

Requirements include a J.D. degree, bar membership, and 3–5 years of related experience.

Qualifications

J.D. degree and bar admission in good standing.
3–5 years of progressively responsible experience in contracting.
Experience drafting, negotiating, reviewing and administering complex contracts.
Familiarity with FAR, federal procurement concepts, and IT acquisitions.

Responsibilities

Provide expert contracting guidance across a range of acquisitions and IT procurements.
Lead negotiations, develop contract strategy, and draft agreements.
Ensure compliance with laws, policies, and institutional requirements.
Mentor less experienced staff and support policy development.
