Job summary

Alium Health is seeking an experienced, Arizona-licensed psychiatrist to provide clinical consultation and renewal evaluations for court-ordered treatment. This independent contractor role supports the psychiatric team and requires independent professional judgment.

The position involves evaluating patients for renewal or continuation of court-ordered treatment, completing necessary documentation, and coordinating with treatment teams and legal entities.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from an accredited medical school.
• Successful completion of an accredited psychiatry residency program.
• Current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in Arizona.
• Board certification or board eligibility in psychiatry.
• Current federal DEA registration when prescribing controlled substances is included in the contracted services.
• Current Arizona controlled-substance registration when required.
• Current professional liability insurance as required by contract.
• Ability to satisfy credentialing, privileging, background-screening, and payer-enrollment requirements.
• Demonstrated experience evaluating and treating adults with serious mental illness and complex psychiatric conditions.
• Knowledge of psychiatric risk assessment, psychopharmacology, clinical documentation, patient rights, and coordinated behavioral health services.
• Ability to complete timely, objective, and defensible psychiatric evaluations and reports.
• Ability to use electronic health records, secure email, telehealth platforms, and electronic documentation systems.

Responsibilities

• Conduct psychiatric evaluations for renewal, continuation, amendment, or review of court-ordered treatment.
• Review medical records, psychiatric history, treatment plans, medication history, and current documentation.
• Evaluate mental status, diagnosis, symptoms, functioning, treatment participation, and adherence.
• Determine whether information supports continued court-ordered treatment recommendations.
• Complete affidavits, evaluations, reports, and supporting documentation on time.
• Document clinical basis for findings and recommendations clearly.
• Coordinate with treatment teams, legal representatives, court liaison, and other entities as needed.
• Provide testimony, respond to subpoenas, and participate in hearings when authorized.
• Notify Alium Health of incomplete records, inability to complete an evaluation, or deadlines at risk.
• Maintain neutrality and independent clinical judgment in forensic evaluations.
