Job Title:Senior Content Writer 3 - 152658-1Location: remote -preferably supporting PST
Schedule: M-F, 40 HR
Duration/Start Date: 5/12/2025
Salary: $45.14 - $49.65 /hourly

Candidates with previous experience working at Microsoft Corporation, either as a full-time employee (FTE) or contractor, are strongly preferred.

Summary:

The main function of a Content Writer is to write technical materials, such as equipment materials, appendices, or operating and maintenance instructions. A typical technical writer is responsible for organizing, editing and maintaining technical records and files.

Job Responsibilities:

Organize material and complete writing assignment according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style and terminology
Maintain records and files of work and revisions
Confer with client to establish technical specifications and to determine subject material to be developed for publication

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as computer science or english, journalism, communications
8-10 years experience required
Experience in in creating documentation for a technical audience
Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills
Ability to read some programming code
Critical thinking and problem-solving skills


Additional Details:

Create communication and readiness material that supports key projects in the Microsoft Digital organization
Write content that is clear, concise, and requires minimal editing
Utilize AI to be productive and creative
Analyze complex technology processes and information; ask key questions of partners and stakeholders to gain a thorough understanding of these processes
Manage content deliverables (i.e., web content, blogs, emails, social content, and promotional materials for internal marketing channels) from start to finish, including:
Review information provided by stakeholders; analyze for information gaps and contact stakeholders as needed
Outline and draft content based on existing templates
Send content to stakeholders for review; make edits as needed
Publish web pages in SharePoint
Send email and Teams chat communications using our mass communication tools
Run promotions in our various internal channels, including SharePoint sites, Viva Engage, direct emails, etc.

Role requirements:

- Ability to take complex (often incomplete) information from stakeholders and transform it into clear, easy-to-consume user guidance
- Self-manage workload and priorities and provide updates on progress
- Comfortable using Microsoft 365 products (i.e., Copilot, Teams, Viva Engage, SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Attend key meetings with End User Engagement Experiences team and stakeholders as needed
- Comfortable working in a fast-moving, quickly evolving environment
- Ability to focus on the big picture while also having a sharp eye for detail
- Comfortable owning deliverables and making decisions on content

Example tasks:

- Craft promotional materials, including PowerPoint deck slides, marketing copy, and imagery, for placement on internal promotional channels
- Develop and update SharePoint pages with product-centric content
- Draft emails in appropriate templates, adhering to brand standards
- Craft blog posts after interviewing experts
- Collaborate with stakeholders
- Monitor Viva Engage community
- Edit existing content based on new program plans
- Distribute emails using mass email software
- Track metrics and provide top-level analysis on communications effort

The purpose of this the End User Engagement Experiences assists with rolling out technology changes to Microsoft employees. They are responsible for testing new technologies and pushing them to their limits at scale.
Key projects: This role will be focused on rolling out agents and implementing Copilot, along with creating imagery and marketing materials using AI. They aim to improve writing and internal communications with AI tools, showcasing their commitment to leveraging AI for enhancing processes and outputs.

This role provides the opportunity to work with cutting-edge AI tools for internal communications at Microsoft, in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. The position is fully remote, providing flexibility, and involves impactful work on technology changes and internal communications. Additionally, the team is collaborative and fun, enhancing the overall work experience.

Candidate Requirements

Years of Experience Required: 7 overall years of experience in the field.
Degrees or certifications required: A communications, public relations or journalism degree is required to be eligible for this role.
Disqualifiers: Candidates with who frequently changed jobs or who have previous Microsoft experience but have not held a role for more than a couple of months at a time will not be eligible for the role.
Best vs. Average: The ideal resume would contain previous experience working at Microsoft within the last five years, and for at least six months. They would also have a background in IT and possess strong writing skills, the ability to meet deadlines, and experience with AI tools.
Performance Indicators: Performance will be assessed based on meeting deadlines and quality of work.
