Clarity Innovations is building a secure, scalable web and mobile application for the United States Space Force (USSF), and content is central to its success. We're seeking a Mid-Level Content Strategist to help translate and execute content strategy across this platform.

This role will shape how content is structured, governed, and delivered to diverse user groups - from USSF personnel to broader Department of Defense audiences.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of content strategy, UX writing, or content design for digital platforms.
  • DoD 8140 Intermediate Certification eligibility.
  • Experience with headless CMS like Directus, Contentful, or Strapi.
  • Experience enforcing editorial standards, content models, and governance.
  • Strong writing, editing, and accessibility skills.
  • Cross-functional collaboration in Agile environments.
  • Knowledge of Section 508 accessibility and user-centered practices.
  • Excellent facilitation and stakeholder engagement.

Position Summary

We're building a secure, scalable web and mobile application for the United States Space Force (USSF), and content is central to its success. We're seeking a Mid-Level Content Strategist to help translate and execute content strategy across this platform. This role will shape how content is structured, governed, and delivered to diverse user groups - from USSF personnel to broader Department of Defense audiences.

You'll collaborate across teams - design, product, development, and communications, and guide a distributed group of content contributors to ensure that all content is effective, consistent, accessible, and aligned with mission needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Platform Oversight: Monitor and maintain content within the CMS (Directus), ensuring contributors follow established workflows, templates, and governance standards.
  • Contributor Support and Training: Act as a primary point of contact for distributed content authors, providing guidance, answering questions, and helping troubleshoot issues related to submissions, formatting, and workflow requirements.
  • Workflow and Process Management: Ensure contributors understand and adhere to publishing processes, including proper tagging, approvals, and content staging before release.
  • Collaborate with Senior Strategist: Work with the senior content strategist to implement content strategy decisions, gather contributor feedback, and elevate issues that require leadership input.
  • Audit & Optimize: Conduct periodic reviews of published content to verify structure, accessibility, and alignment with platform expectations.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with developers, UX designers, and product managers to resolve technical issues, improve CMS experience, and support platform enhancements.
Required Qualifications
  • 6+ years of experience in content strategy, UX writing, or content design for digital platforms
  • Eligible to obtain DoD 8140-compliant Intermediate Certification
  • Strong background in working with CMS tools - preferably headless platforms like Directus, Contentful, or Strapi
  • Experience in maintaining and enforcing editorial standards, content models, and governance frameworks
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills with a focus on clarity, tone, and accessibility
  • Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional product teams in Agile environments
  • Familiarity with Section 508 accessibility standards and user-centered content practices
  • Excellent facilitation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • 8140-compliant Intermediate Certification: Security+ or BS in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Information Systems, or Computer Science, from an ABET accredited or CAE designated institution
  • Experience working with public affairs and legal teams within the DoD
  • Experience supporting federal or DoD digital services or working within a regulated or secure environment
  • Understanding of structured content design and content API delivery
  • Familiarity with plain language, information architecture, and UX principles
  • Exposure to security clearance processes or prior work with classified content workflows
  • Experience working in or with the USSF

Salary Range: $89,000 - $219,000
