Job summary

Sunward is seeking an experienced Underwriter to review loan documents for auto, personal, credit card and HELOC applications, evaluating risk and ensuring regulatory compliance. The role requires underwriting decisions and collaboration with the Credit Committee on high-complexity loans.

Ideal candidates have strong analytical abilities, excellent communication, and a proven track record in consumer lending with 4+ years of underwriting experience.

Qualifications

• Minimum four years of experience in consumer and HELOC underwriting.
• High school diploma or GED (or more than four years of related experience) required.

Responsibilities

• Perform all duties of a level 1 & 2 Consumer Underwriter.
• Act as subject matter expert for others in the department.
• Assist in training new staff on products and procedures.
• Support and respond to questions from Consumer Underwriter 1 and 2.
• Participate in the Credit Committee for high-complexity loan decisions per policy.
• Escalate files with recommendations beyond lending authority to higher-level underwriters or supervisors.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
