Job summary

First Financial Bank in Abilene, TX seeks a loan processor to handle consumer real estate loans with limited supervision. You will review files, ensure compliance with TRID, Reg. B, HMDA and related rules, and deliver accurate disclosures to customers.

Candidates should have 2 years of loan processing experience (or 18 months with Bachelor's), strong communication, detail orientation, and the ability to work toward deadlines in a collaborative bank environment.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate with 24 months loan processing experience required; 18 months may substitute with a Bachelor's degree.
  • Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to discuss complex loan scenarios.
  • Ability to work on deadlines with great attention to detail.
  • Proactive and independent with the ability to take initiative.
  • Excellent time-management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

  • Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn loan processing software or other lending systems.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Responsibilities

  • Create and deliver loan disclosures to customers in a timely manner while ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Review each loan file to verify that documents are present, accurate, and complete.
  • Ensure that loans are compliant with Federal and State law as well as with Bank policy.
  • Perform complex and confidential administrative functions including but not limited to: organizing files, data entry, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Process and respond to all incoming methods of communication.
  • Adapt to change in the work environment, manage competing demands and handle frequent changes.
  • Review documents needed for a complete loan package (credit report, flood, appraisal, title work, etc.).
  • Alert lending staff and management when a file may not be compliant with State or Federal law and provide guidance with how to correct.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

SCOPE/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Incumbent has limited contact with lending staff and frequent contact with regional loan officers, lending assistants, other departments, title companies, etc. The incumbent will be required to work consumer real estate loans independently without much direct supervision. Incumbent will review his/her own loans prior to final documents being delivered and advise loan staff on changes because of the review. Incumbent must be able to utilize their expertise to effectively apply bank procedures and ensure loans are compliant with both Federal and State regulations. Incumbent will at times be expected to review the work of other loan processors. Must exercise independent judgment and decision-making in routine situations. The ability to delay or stop a loan closing based on the findings of their review may be required. Assist with routine problems and resolve or refer to supervisor or other departments as needed.
