Job summary

The Department of Professional and Financial Regulation (and Boards) in Gardiner, ME seeks a professional examiner to assess consumer lending practices and ensure compliance with state and federal laws. Currently, this position is not eligible for visa sponsorship or STEM OPT extensions.

Representative tasks include:

Writing examination reports.

Working with the Attorney General's office to prepare documents and testimony for administrative hearings.

Traveling out of state for training and examinations of larger companies

Knowledge and skills required:

Experience in lending to consumers.

Knowledge of Maine and Federal lending laws.

Ability to communicate in writing and verbally.

Ability to plan and organize and analyze data.

Minimum Qualifications

One (1) year experience in the examination of credit agency policies and practices and a Bachelors Degree. Comparable work experience may be substituted for education requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Preference will be given to candidates with experience in mortgage lending, consumer finance, or any industry regulated by the Bureau (such as debt collection or money transmission). Preference is also extended to current or former state/federal employees with a background in regulatory compliance, auditing, or administrative law enforcement, as well as candidates with advanced computer or data analysis skills.
