Job summary

Ascential Medical & Life Sciences is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design of disposable consumables for life-science instruments and medical devices, with a focus on plastics design, injection molding, and bioburden/sterility control.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, perform DFM/DFA reviews, guide verification testing, and mentor junior engineers, while interfacing credibly with clients on program trade-offs and manufacturability.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering; MS preferred.
• 7+ years of mechanical design experience in disposable/consumable devices.
• Experience with plastics design and injection molding.
• Experience with GD&T and tolerance stack-up.
• SolidWorks CAD proficiency.
• Bioburden control and sterile packaging knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design of consumables (cartridges, cassettes, filters) for life-science instruments and medical devices.
• Apply best-practice plastics design principles for manufacturability and performance.
• Specify and validate plastics joining/welding methods for fluid-path integrity.
• Lead DFMA reviews with internal and external manufacturing partners.
• Lead verification testing and process validation for consumables.
• Mentor mechanical engineers on plastics design and sterility best practices.
