Job description

Description & Requirements

You will join a team to execute projects with Forvis Mazars clients in the nonprofit industry, from planning and procedures to deliverables. You will participate in client and internal meetings, and project development. Projects may include grants management, accounting services, consulting, forecasting, outsourced/interim controller responsibilities, and problem-solving related to clients' financial systems, processes, and records.

This position offers an excellent opportunity for candidates with strong attention to detail, sensitivity to deadlines, client service dedication, effective communication, and project management skills. The successful candidate will be an independent worker who knows when to update the engagement executive on client issues.

How you will contribute:
  • Work on financial, accounting, and compliance projects primarily in the nonprofit sector
  • Oversee project management including planning, supervising, and executing consulting projects in process improvement, operational assessments, compliance, and financial reporting
  • Assist with outsourced accounting services such as general ledger and financial statement preparation, month-end and year-end closings, reconciliations, and audit preparations
  • Participate in and lead projects evaluating federal and state grant compliance and other regulatory requirements
  • Perform operational and financial assessments of clients' grants management and finance departments
  • Assist in developing policies and procedures
  • Manage client relationships and communication at appropriate levels
  • Coordinate meetings and project timelines
  • Conduct industry and technical research for new client solutions
  • Utilize technology to improve internal processes
  • Support the development and coaching of professional staff

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • At least 2 years of accounting or consulting experience in a public accounting firm
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Accounting or related field
  • CPA license or eligibility to sit for the CPA exam
  • Experience in the nonprofit industry
  • Experience with QuickBooks, Financial Edge, and other relevant software
