Job Summary

Provides senior level direct support to employees and leaders related to requests for leaves of absence and for the timely and comprehensive facilitation of the interactive process related to requests for reasonable accommodations. Consults with assigned client group as a leaves and accommodations expert for the Employee Relations Center of Excellence (COE). Responsible for staying up to date with evolving guidance and regulations in order to provide support and provide expert professional advice to employees and leaders in accordance with state and federal laws and regulations and organizational policies.

Job Duties

  • Provides high level consultation and case management in the area of reasonable accommodations, in accordance with federal and state regulations, and explains processes for requesting family and medical leave of absences, including documentation required and approval period.
  • Manages accommodation requests and facilitates the interactive process in compliance with federal and state laws, including FMLA and related leave policies.
  • Provides expert guidance on leaves and accommodations, mentoring peers, and other HR team members to enhance team knowledge and alignment on best practices.
  • Proactive partnership with third-party administrators to ensure open cases for leave, disability and/or worker’s compensation are managed in accordance with federal and state regulations and organizational policies.
  • Develops and delivers trainings in collaboration with management, HR Business Partners, and other appropriate stakeholders.
  • Creates and maintains accurate records and documentation in the Leaves and Accommodations Case Management System with strong attention to detail.
  • Navigates complex HR data, laws, and policies in a fast-paced environment, while effectively de-escalating high-pressure or emotionally sensitive situations.
  • Prioritizes workload to ensure legal compliance and responsive customer service while maintaining highest levels of confidentiality and discretion.

Job Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

  • At least 5 years’ experience in Human Resources, employment law, or reasonably comparable field
  • Ability to communicate and provide professional service and work products across all levels of the organization
  • In-depth understanding of FMLA, ADA, state-specific leave laws, and reasonable accommodation requirements
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including experience providing training
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Proven ability to work independently while prioritizing competing deadlines and projects.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience managing, administering, and/or consulting on entitlement programs (leaves of absence, reasonable accommodations)
  • HR Information System (HRIS) Databases experience
  • Absence management software and/or databases experience
