Job summary

Gundersen Health System is seeking a strategic Government Affairs Leader (Senior Consultant of External Affairs) to advance organizational positioning on legislation and policy, and to support research and outreach for special External Affairs projects.

The role reports to the Vice President, External Affairs & Sustainability and involves hybrid work with travel to meet agencies and partners in Wisconsin. Starting salary is $74,443.20 plus more for experience.

  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to qualify as a Register Lobbyist.
  • Ability to travel 1-2 times per month.
  • Travel expenses reimbursed.

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 Senior Consultant | External Affairs Reports to: Vice President, External Affairs & Sustainability Location: Hybrid. On-site location would be La Crosse, WI primarily with some travel to meet with various agencies and partners. Starting salary: $74,443.20 + more for experience! We are seeking a strategic Government Affairs Leader (Senior Consultant of External Affairs) to work under the direction of the VP of External Affairs & Sustainability. This role will focus on organizational positioning relevant to legislation and policy impacting Emplify Health, as well as supporting research and outreach for special projects within External Affairs.

What you'll do:
  • Research and Analysis: Conducts and guides research for policy papers, legislative analysis, and special projects. Provides analysis on legislation and regulations impacting Emplify Health.
  • Relationship Management: Develops and manages strategies to build relationships with state and federal officials, agencies, and various stakeholders to increase support for Emplify Health.
  • Outreach and Engagement: Manages outreach programs, public relations events, and strategic plans. Develops effective communication channels with businesses, agencies, and other relevant groups.
  • Project Management: Plans, coordinates, and executes research projects and special initiatives. Facilitates External Affairs projects and ensures quality documentation and data management.
  • Strategic Development: Identifies new opportunities for growth, provides innovative ideas and strategies, and monitors opportunities for competitive grant and appropriation funding.
