Job summary

Gundersen Health System is seeking an Emergency Department Technician/EMT in La Crosse, WI. You will play a direct role in saving lives by delivering patient care within a high-energy, multidisciplinary ED team.

The position offers part-time status (0.7 FTE) with a starting pay of $19.05/hour, generous shift differentials, and a comprehensive benefits package. You will work in a Level II Trauma Center environment with ongoing professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • NREMT-B or Wisconsin EMT-B certification is required.
  • Current Infant-Adult Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers.
  • Prior emergency or pre-hospital work experience is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care in the Emergency Department.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver safe patient care.
  • Support patient and family education and transitions of care.
  • Maintain patient safety and help with routine ED operations.

What You'll Do:

As an Emergency Department Technician/EMT you play a direct role in saving the lives of our patients each day by serving our patients in a safe environment promoting long-term recovery. In this department, Emergency Department Technicians are expected to perform with a high degree of clinical and professional aptitude while helping deliver patient care as part of a professional multidisciplinary team of Providers, RNs, Paramedics, Emergency Department Technicians, Respiratory Therapists, Health Unit Coordinators, and Social Workers. Emergency Services, a Level II ACS-verified Trauma Center, is a high-energy, patient-centered environment consisting of 45 total patient exam rooms including ten Urgent Care rooms, five resuscitation/trauma/critical care rooms, and three dedicated Behavioral Health rooms that serve every patient population from infancy to the elderly. Patients have 24-hour access to laboratory, X-ray, and surgical services. We are also a Stroke Center with 24/7 neuro-interventional capabilities and a Chest Pain Center with 24/7 interventional cardiac catheterization lab capabilities. Emergency Services, a 2023 Emergency Nurses Association Lantern Award recipient, is recognized and acknowledged for excellence throughout the department through metrics and patient experience that is difficult to find anywhere else in the nation.

What's Available:

Part-time, 56 hours biweekly (0.7 FTE). Will orientate/train as close to full-time as possible including on day shift 8-hour day shifts (7a-3p) with every other weekend/holiday rotation Starting pay of $19.05 per hour and up, based on your years of experience, with generous shift/weekend/holiday differentials

What You'll Need:

  • National Registry Emergency Medical Technician - Basic (NREMT) or Wisconsin Emergency Medical Technician - Basic (EMT-B)
  • Current Infant-Adult Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers
  • Prior work experience in an emergency or pre-hospital setting is strongly preferred
