Job description

ERM is hiring a Senior Consultant, Environmental Remediation Engineer to manage site investigation and remediation projects. Responsibilities include fieldwork, data interpretation, and project oversight. Candidates should have a relevant degree or equivalent experience, with 2+ years in the field. The position allows for remote work, with a preference for local candidates due to travel requirements. ERM emphasizes safety and diversity in the workplace.

ERM is seeking a hands-on Senior Consultant, Environmental Remediation Engineer to join our consulting firm in St. Louis, MO, Indianapolis, IN, or Overland Park, KS. The successful candidate will work on a variety of site investigation and remediation projects at industrial sites, implementing the latest technologies and gaining experience for professional registration.

Responsibilities:
  1. Conduct field work, including soil, sediment, groundwater, and surface water sampling, aquifer testing, drilling oversight, soil logging, soil boring, monitoring well installation, well development, purging, sampling, and remedial systems operation and maintenance.
  2. Coordinate and supervise drilling, surveying, and laboratory services.
  3. Provide construction oversight on environmental remediation projects and operate/maintain remediation systems.
  4. Assist in data interpretation and prepare site work plans, reports, and technical documents.
  5. Collaborate with project teams, primarily under the guidance of Project Managers.
  6. Ensure work adheres to quality, budget, schedule, and scope.
  7. Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  8. Communicate with subcontractors, regulatory agencies, tenants, and clients during field activities.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in civil, environmental, geological engineering, hydrogeology, or related field, or 8+ years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.
  • 2+ years (preferably 3+) of experience, including commitment to multi-week, out-of-town assignments.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams, with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and organizational skills; experience with technical report writing is a plus.
  • Strong safety commitment and adherence to health protocols.
  • Valid driver’s license; ability to operate a company vehicle due to travel requirements.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER training preferred; ERM can provide training if needed.
  • Local candidates are preferred.
