Fortified Data seeks a Senior Consultant to lead data warehouse and lakehouse work within our Professional Services team. You will design and deliver data solutions on Databricks, Snowflake, and Microsoft Fabric, guiding clients through modernization of legacy reporting and data estates.

You will mentor consultants, shape engagement delivery, and contribute to Fortified Data's data platform practice. Strong Azure data services experience is expected.

Qualifications

Job Summary

Fortified Data is seeking a Senior Consultant to lead data warehouse and modern data platform work within our Professional Services team. You will design and deliver data warehouse and lakehouse solutions on Databricks, Snowflake, and Microsoft Fabric, and lead clients through modernizing legacy reporting and data environments. You will lead technical discovery alongside Account Executives, advise client technical and business leaders, guide other consultants on delivery, and help shape how Fortified Data grows its data platform practice.

Duties and Essential Job Functions

• Lead Professional Services engagements for data warehouse and lakehouse design, build, and modernization on Databricks, Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, and Azure data services, from discovery through delivery.
• Design target-state data architectures, including dimensional and medallion data models, ingestion and transformation patterns, and data governance approaches.
• Lead migrations of legacy data warehouses and reporting environments, such as SQL Server, SSIS, SSAS, and Oracle, to modern platforms, owning the migration approach, risk plan, and cutover.
• Lead technical discovery with Account Executives, qualify opportunities, and present recommendations to client technical and business leaders.
• Own technical scoping, solution design, and effort estimates for data platform proposals and statements of work.
• Serve as the escalation point for complex data platform issues across Professional Services engagements.
• Set performance and cost optimization practices on consumption-based platforms, including workload sizing, query tuning, and cost governance.
• Mentor consultants and DBAs who are building data platform skills, and review their technical work.
• Help build Fortified Data's data platform practice, including reference architectures, delivery accelerators, and repeatable engagement offerings.
• Advise clients on the AI readiness of their data estate, including data quality, governance, and platform fit.
• Identify expansion opportunities and partner with the account team and Managed Services on ongoing client support.
• Contribute to thought leadership through blog posts, webinars, and case studies.

Measures of Success

This role will be evaluated against annual objectives set in partnership with leadership. Representative measures include:

• Client satisfaction and repeat business on data platform engagements.
• Influenced pipeline and closed bookings for data platform work.
• Growth of the data platform practice, including reference architectures, offerings, and certified team members.
• Number and quality of thought leadership contributions delivered annually.

Required Experience

• Eight or more years in data engineering, data warehousing, or database architecture, including at least three years delivering cloud data platform projects.
• Led end-to-end delivery of data warehouse or lakehouse implementations on Databricks or Snowflake, with working knowledge of the other or of Microsoft Fabric.
• Expert SQL skills and strong Python or PySpark skills.
• Experience migrating legacy data warehouses or ETL processes to cloud data platforms.
• Strong experience with Microsoft Azure data services.
• Client-facing consulting experience, including leading discovery, scoping work, and presenting recommendations to technical and business leaders.
• Experience mentoring or guiding other engineers on technical delivery.

Preferred Experience

• Professional-level Databricks, Snowflake, or Microsoft Fabric certification.
• Experience in a consulting firm or managed services provider.
• Experience with orchestration and transformation tools such as Azure Data Factory, Fabric Data Factory, or dbt.
• Experience with data governance and catalog tools such as Unity Catalog or Microsoft Purview.
• Experience supporting AI and machine learning workloads on modern data platforms.
• Experience with AWS or Google Cloud data services.
• Experience contributing to thought leadership, such as published content, webinars, or conference talks.
