Job summary

Vaco seeks a Senior Consultant for a 6-month, part-time engagement to lead IFRS-based consolidated financial statements for a public company. You will own the group consolidation process, ensure accurate intercompany eliminations, and prepare disclosures in notes.

MD&A support and external reporting tasks may be assigned. The role requires a CPA/CA designation with strong IFRS, public-company reporting, and prior Big Four/audit experience within asset-heavy industries.

Responsibilities

• Lead quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements under IFRS for a public company.
• Own the consolidation and financial reporting process ensuring data from business units is complete and accurately reflected.
• Prepare and review consolidation entries, intercompany eliminations, FX impacts, and other complex reporting adjustments.
• Prepare schedules and working papers for quarterly reporting and external audits.
• Collaborate with Finance to meet reporting deadlines and public-company requirements.
• Assist with technical accounting and financial reporting matters as they arise.
• Support the preparation and review of MD&A and other external reports as applicable.

Senior Consultant - 6 months - 45 hrs/quarter - Part-Time

Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation of quarterly and annual consolidated public-company financial statements in accordance with IFRS, including the balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement, and note disclosures.
• Own the consolidation and financial reporting process, ensuring information received from various business units is complete, accurate, and appropriately reflected in the financial statements.
• Prepare and review consolidation entries, intercompany eliminations, foreign exchange impacts, and other complex financial reporting adjustments.
• Prepare supporting schedules and working papers for quarterly reporting and external audit requirements.
• Partner with internal Finance and Accounting teams to ensure reporting deadlines and public-company requirements are met.
• Assist with technical accounting and financial reporting matters as they arise.
• Support the preparation and review of MD&A and other external reporting materials, depending on experience.

Requirements

• CPA/CA designation with strong IFRS and public-company financial reporting experience.
• Strong background in financial statement preparation, consolidations, and external reporting.
• Previous audit experience, ideally with a Big Four or large public accounting firm.
• Experience working within the mining, manufacturing, or another complex asset-intensive industry.
• Strong understanding of consolidation accounting, financial statement disclosures, and quarterly reporting requirements.
• Experience preparing or reviewing MD&A is an asset.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to investigate and resolve complex accounting and reporting issues.

Pay Rate

$100.00/ Hour

You must currently reside within the Greater Toronto Area and be permitted to work in Canada to be considered for this opportunity.
