Job summary

Rockford is seeking a Senior Superintendent to manage all field operations on assigned projects in Detroit. You will supervise the field labor force, trade contractors, and engineers, driving safe, timely, and profitable project completion.

Strong leadership, communication, and client-service skills are essential. The role requires a degree in Construction Management or 7+ years of equivalent experience, with knowledge of residential and commercial projects.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read and comprehend blueprints and floor plans.

About This Opportunity

The Senior Superintendent position at Rockford will manage all field operations on the project(s) assigned in order to achieve timely and profitable completion. Our Senior Superintendents directly supervise processes and field labor force, including but not limited to laborers, trade contractors, field engineers, and craft workers. As a Superintendent you must be a strong leader, communicator, and advocate for team collaboration, safety, and innovation, and must have the ability to lead, manage, cultivate and mentor team members to promote their professional growth. This position must demonstrate organizational and time management skills, as well as have robust communication and client service skills.

Requirements
  • Bachelors in Construction Management or 7+ years of equivalent work experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of managing residential and commercial projects
  • Been the lead or played a part in managing construction projects
  • Must have demonstrated the ability to manage logistical and mentally complex jobs
  • Certifications in First Aid/CPR
  • OSHA training
  • Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, correspondence, memos, blueprints and floor plans
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization
Preferred Experience
  • Healthcare market experience preferred, but not required.
  • Experience in leading projects valued at 20 million dollars or more
  • Proficient in MS Outlook, Project, Excel and Word
  • Knowledge of CSI format

Environmental Factors

The work environment for this position may subject the individual to hazards commonly associated with construction sites. Examples of physical hazards include noise, proximity to moving vehicles, atmospheric conditions, close quarters, uneven surfaces, and elevated surfaces. The individual may also be subjected to outside environmental conditions (weather) where protection may not be available. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required at all times outside the job trailer. Occasional lifting of 50 lbs. or less.

Type of Environment

The work environment for this position is a typical office environment in which physical demands require the ability to sit for long periods of time. Intermittent movement will be necessary to perform requirements of the position such as accessing centrally located office equipment and may be subject to lifting of 35 lbs., bending, stooping, kneeling and climbing.
