Job summary

McGough Construction seeks a Senior Construction Scheduler to develop and maintain CPM schedules for commercial projects in West Texas. You will apply critical path scheduling and Last Planner System, attend weekly progress meetings, and lead pull planning sessions.

The role requires 10+ years of scheduling experience, strong Primavera P6 expertise, and the ability to collaborate with project teams to manage EVA, cost, and risk. Hybrid work arrangements are possible.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction-related field or 8 years of relevant experience.
  • 10+ years of construction & scheduling experience.
  • 4D visual planning methodologies knowledge.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes and delivery methods.
  • Experience with cost and resource loaded schedules; claims avoidance/resolution.
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6.
  • Experience with owner meetings and procurement scheduling.
  • Ability to schedule independently with minimal oversight.
  • Experience with federal projects and government scheduling protocols (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Lead planning with Project Manager and Schedule Department.
  • Develop WBS, durations, and sequencing.
  • Analyze drawings/specs for Baseline schedules.
  • Monitor schedules and guide Operations.
  • Coordinate weekly subcontractor plans with Last Planner team.
  • Prepare EVA analyses and cost/schedule integration reports.
  • Develop Time Impact Analyses and risk mitigation.

Ask anyone who knows us - the caliber of our people sets us apart.SENIOR CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULE MANAGERThe Senior Construction Scheduler will primarily be responsible for developing and maintaining schedules for commercial construction projects. McGough uses critical path scheduling along with our Last Planner System to track and maintain progress. The Senior Construction Scheduler will be responsible to attend weekly meetings to review and update progress, review subcontractors weekly work plans and update the overall project tracking tools. The position will also lead pull planning meetings periodically, to create specific work plans for each scheduled milestone along the critical path.QUALIFICATIONSRequired:Bachelor’s degree in construction-related field or 8 years of relevant experience may be substituted for required education.10+ years of construction & scheduling experienceWorking knowledge of 4D visual planning methodologiesStrong understanding of construction processes, sequencing, and project delivery methods.Demonstrated experience and knowledge of cost and resource loaded schedules and claims avoidance and resolution techniquesCompetence in Primavera P6With a Bachelor’s Degree must have 24 months of experience or without a Bachelor’s Degree mush have 6 years of experience with each of the following:(1) C onstruction or engineering project scheduling to include interfacing with owner review task meetings and materials procurement scheduling(2) S chedule construction projects independently and without oversight and involve maintaining and updating schedules(3) U se knowledge of construction plans and engineering specifications, codes, and standards;(4) R eading, reviewing, and interpreting construction documents, including drawings, specifications, and contracts/general conditions, at all levels of design to identify scheduling issues; and(5) W orking with the scheduling and project management software program Primavera P6.Preferred:Master’s degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related field15+ years of construction & scheduling experienceExperience with federal projects and government scheduling protocols (if applicable)Knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM) or other project controls toolsOSHA 10/30 certification or familiarity with safety practicesSkills:Strong collaboration and verbal and written communication skills with the ability to function as an integral team member, working under time constraints and meeting deadlines in a changing environmentBasic knowledge of cost and resource loaded schedulesBasic knowledge of claims avoidance and resolution techniquesResults-oriented to ensure delivery of accurate, complete, and timely products and servicesThorough and detail-orientedAbility to prioritize and multi-task within time constraintsSelf-starter and motivated with minimal supervisionProficiency in Microsoft applications, computer skills, including ExcelStrong problem-solving skills, basic accounting principles knowledge, documentation skills, research and resolution skillsAbility to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervisionEmbodies personal integrity and keeps confidencesView every interaction as an opportunity to add value and enhance relationshipsCORE RESPONSIBILITIESUnderstand and implement accepted Planning & Scheduling best practicesLead the planning effort alongside Project Manager and McGough Schedule Department. Collaborate and make recommendations to project management team in planning the work, including developing Work-Breakdown Structure (WBS), durations, and sequencing the work (hard restraints and soft restraints)Analyze drawings, specifications, and construction related documents in preparation and acceptance of usable Baseline schedules for constructionMonitor project schedules being developed and updated by Operations staff and provide support and guidance as necessaryInteract with the Operations team and represent McGough Construction in the best manner to owners, subcontractors, and their representativesSupport the development of conceptual bid and proposal schedules with Operations staff and present to selection committees if requiredUtilize analytics to identify and report on project trends and support with risk mitigationEffectively cost and manpower load schedules for use during the execution of the projectPrepare reporting from schedules including EVA analysis, integration of cost and scheduleEvaluate the actual construction status relative to proposed planAnalyze and communicate the impact of potential and actual changes to the schedulePrepare Time Impact Analyses per recommended practices by commonly accepted standardsAssist project teams to develop “what if” scenarios to explore alternate sequencing, document, mitigate or avoid schedule delaysDevelop detailed construction schedules using Primavera P6Interact with project teams to define scope of work to develop and update detailed schedulesCoordination with non-construction processes i.e. submittals, design and permitting progressWork with our Last Planner team and project teams to gather weekly work plans from subcontractors and update weekly work plansParticipate in weekly subcontractor meetings on various projectsIdentify and track project constraintsEvaluate project schedule progress and performance and identify developing problem areasAnalyze critical path and constraints to determine effect of changes to schedule and recommend work-aroundParticipate in Lean events and support of the McGough wayResponsible for special projects and other departmental duties as necessaryOFFICE AND TRAVELRequired to work at the project in West Texas, there is potential for a hybrid schedule once trained.Physical Requirements:The physical demands outlined here are representative of those required for an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
