Job summary

Flatiron seeks an experienced senior safety leader to plan, organize, and evaluate the occupational health and safety program for a mega project or division-wide scope. You will oversee safety procedures, trainings, and risk mitigation across projects, ensuring compliance with regulations and company standards.

You will lead site orientations, toolbox talks, and incident investigations, while guiding safety equipment procurement and reporting to senior leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Health & Safety or related field preferred.
• 20+ years’ experience in construction or safety.
• 10+ years’ experience managing construction or safety teams.
• Experience in diverse, complex and high risk construction projects.
• Required company Safety certifications.
• Proven leadership with clear expectations to direct reports and stakeholders.
• Proven ability to communicate safety program to senior leadership.
• Ability to mentor safety professionals and build a strong internal team.
• Experience delivering safety training based on standard principles.

Responsibilities

• Oversees safety program and procedures for a mega project or oversight of all projects in a Division.
• Develops division wide or mega project specific safety procedures and practices; implements trainings aligned to safety program.
• Reviews project trend analysis to ensure accurate tracking of incidents.
• Oversees safety orientations, trainings, and toolbox talks for all project staff.
• Directs project site training, equipment needs and inspection requirements to support construction schedule and cost savings.
• Performs additional assignments per management’s direction.
• Supports project safety equipment procurement and maintenance; provides technical expertise on high-risk issues.
• Reviews project status and trend analysis for District Operations meetings.
• Oversees injury reporting and investigation resolution; ensures mitigation actions.
• Reviews DHA and JHA discussions and documentation for the project plan.
• Maintains knowledge of company values and policies.
