Job Summary

Mortenson is currently seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager I to provide overall leadership direction to one large project or multiple projects, including the management of project quality, timeliness, safety, and mentoring the project team. The role includes developing and improving customer relationships by providing excellent service. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary as you will interact with staff at all levels in an ever‑changing environment. A high level of integrity, confidentiality, flexibility, inventiveness, dedication, and efficiency is vital to your success.

Responsibilities

• Supervise overall financial health of projects
• Develop and maintain project financial and equipment projections
• Allocate project estimates into the financial system, determine cost codes, and approve invoices
• Provide financials and billings to Accounting and create monthly owner billings
• Handle subcontracts and suppliers, manage budget and selections
• Lead Assistant Project Managers and Project Engineers, provide job assignments and training
• Serve as main point of contact with owner and on‑site representative
• Resolve site concerns, handle change orders, and obtain necessary approvals
• Maintain schedule and budget, managing quality, risk, safety, and compliance

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience
• Minimum eight years of construction management or project management experience
• Ability to manage multiple, large complex projects
• Active listening skills and effective communication, including openness to diverse input and feedback
• Basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practices
• Intermediate level skills in Microsoft Office, Project, and pertinent web applications
• Positive professional attitude and strong customer service skills
• Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies
• Current driver’s license
• Ability to travel up to 100%

Base pay range for this role is $140,800 - $211,200.

Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL - 5%; Seattle, WA and Portland, OR - 10%; Washington, D.C. - 12.5%.

This position is eligible for Mortenson’s incentive plan.
