Job summary

Precision Contractors is seeking a Senior Construction Accountant to lead project cost accounting, ensuring GAAP compliance and accurate cost tracking for multiple construction projects. The role partners with project management and executive leadership to support profitability and financial health across diverse sectors.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in construction accounting, a relevant bachelor's degree, and strong analytical and communication skills.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance required.
5+ years of construction accounting or project accounting experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of job cost accounting, cost codes, WIP reporting, and revenue recognition.
Experience with construction ERP software (Foundation/Procore) is a plus.

Responsibilities

Manage project job cost accounting and maintain accurate financial records.
Monitor project budgets, committed costs, and cost-to-complete forecasts.
Prepare and review monthly WIP schedules and percentage-of-completion revenue recognition.
Reconcile project costs, retainage, contract assets, and general ledger accounts.
Review subcontractor and vendor invoices for proper coding and payment approval.
Track contracts, purchase orders, change orders, and subcontract balances.
Prepare job cost reports, budget vs. actual reports, and executive financial summaries.
Support month-end and year-end close, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
Assist with AIA billing, progress billing, and project financial reporting.
Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, construction contracts, and internal controls.
Collaborate with Project Managers, Operations, Executive Leadership, and external auditors to improve project profitability.
