Job description

As our Senior Construction Manager, you will play a key leadership role within the ENGIE Capital Projects team at Georgetown University, managing the on-site execution of major capital projects that modernize and expand the University's utility systems. You'll oversee contractors, field operations, and construction sequencing to ensure that every project is delivered safely, efficiently, and in full alignment with ENGIE and University standards.

This position supports ENGIE's 50-year partnership with Georgetown University to operate, maintain, and enhance the campus utility infrastructure. Projects under your direction will include chilled water, steam, hot water, and electrical distribution systems-ranging from infrastructure renewals to complex system upgrades across the campus.

No two days are the same. You'll lead field execution for multimillion-dollar utility projects, coordinate closely with Project Managers and Engineers, and represent ENGIE in day-to-day construction activities. Your success will be defined by your ability to manage contractors effectively, maintain safety and quality standards, and deliver projects on time and within budget while fostering collaboration and accountability in the field.

Additional duties include the following:

  • Oversee daily construction activities, ensuring adherence to design intent, schedule, and quality standards
  • Supervise contractors and field teams during mobilization, installation, testing, and commissioning phases
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, Engineers, and Operations staff to plan tie-ins, outages, and sequencing with minimal disruption to campus operations
  • Conduct daily and weekly site inspections to verify safety compliance and workmanship quality
  • Review and manage RFIs, submittals, field changes, and change orders in collaboration with Project Delivery leadership
  • Lead and document progress meetings, ensuring all parties are aligned on schedule and deliverables
  • Enforce health, safety, and environmental standards across all construction activities
  • Support close-out activities including punch lists, as-built verification, warranty coordination, and lessons learned documentation
  • Mentor junior construction staff and promote consistent implementation of ENGIE's construction management standards
  • Maintain proactive communication with University stakeholders, ensuring transparency and responsiveness in field activities
What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related technical field, or 10 years of equivalent construction experience
  • Minimum five to seven (5-7) years of experience in construction management of industrial, utility, or campus infrastructure projects
  • Proven ability to manage multiple contractors and complex construction sequences in active environments
  • Understanding of mechanical, electrical, and civil systems as they relate to utility infrastructure
  • Demonstrated expertise in field coordination, QA/QC, and contractor performance management
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills
  • Proficiency in project management tools (Procore, Primavera, MS Project, or equivalent)
  • OSHA 30 certification
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, enforce specifications, and resolve construction challenges decisively
  • Commitment to ENGIE's safety culture and ethical standards.
  • This role requires attendance at a worksite on a daily basis
  • Frequent fieldwork at active construction sites across Georgetown University
  • Ability to walk, climb, and inspect construction areas safely
  • Requires strong organizational, interpersonal, and leadership skills in dynamic, multi-contractor environments
  • Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
