Morgner Construction Management Corp. is seeking a Construction Manager IV to lead the construction phase of a college facility project, ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery and compliance with design documents and DSA requirements.

The role involves coordinating with the Design Team, contractors, inspectors, and College PMO, performing field observations, reviewing project data, and advising the College Project Director on status, risks, and necessary actions.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years in construction management of commercial and/or public facilities.
  • BA or BS in Architecture, Engineering, Urban Planning, Construction Management, or a closely related field.
  • OR minimum of 10 years in construction management of commercial and/or public facilities, managing multiple construction projects, with 4 years additional qualifying experience in excess of the minimum stated above substituted for the required education.

Job description

The Construction Manager IV manages, oversees, and coordinates all facets of the construction phase of a college facility project, including mobilization, construction, and closeout. Responsibilities include, without limitation, reviewing and summarizing project data, conducting field checks for compliance of construction with design documents and DSA requirements, coordinating with public agencies during construction for compliance with off-site work, and monitoring, reporting, and providing recommendations and solutions to the College Project Director, Project Managers, and PMO relative to current project status, delivery objectives, schedule, costs, budget, staffing, delays, disputes, changes, and compliance with SOP and other construction requirements.

The Construction Manager IV performs day-to-day construction contract administration, assisting Project Managers in bid analysis, change order analysis and negotiation, pre-construction meetings, and related coordinating activities. The Construction Manager IV performs daily direct observations of conditions in the field and is familiar with all aspects of the construction process and supporting documentation. The Construction Manager IV works with the Design Team, contractors, inspectors, DSA, and others to resolve complex construction-related issues in a timely manner and within budget.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 10 years in construction management of commercial and/or public facilities, managing multiple construction projects.
  • BA or BS in Architecture, Engineering, Urban Planning, Construction Management, or a closely related field.
  • OR minimum of 10 years in construction management of commercial and/or public facilities, managing multiple construction projects, with 4 years additional qualifying experience in excess of the minimum stated above substituted for the required education.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience within a large capital improvement program and familiarity with relevant provisions of the California Public Contract Code.
  • Experience in formal construction partnering.
  • Current and valid Certificate of Registration as an Architect by the California Architects Board, or as a Professional Engineer by the California State Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologists.
  • Current and valid Construction Manager (CCM) credential from the Construction Manager Certification Institute (CMCI).
  • Experience with Division of the State Architect (DSA) construction and design processes or similar processes.
  • Knowledge of all parts of the project life cycle, including planning, design, construction, and closeout.
  • Ability to multi-task, solve problems, and successfully deliver projects.
