Job summary

Aligned Data Centers, LLC in Elk Grove Village, IL, seeks an experienced Construction Manager to lead ground-up and remodel projects for data centers. You will organize cross-functional teams across design, procurement, operations, IT/Network, and finance to ensure projects meet quality, schedule, and budget.

The role requires 7+ years of progressive construction leadership, deep knowledge of building construction and national-scale processes, and data center design experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in engineering, construction management or a related field.
• 7+ years progressive experience managing commercial construction projects or programs.
• Strong knowledge of building construction and project management processes at a national scale; data center design exposure.

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance and project leadership from ground-up construction, remodels, renovations, etc., ensuring projects meet company expectations.
• Organize and lead cross-functional work groups including design, procurement, operations, IT/Network, and finance to achieve construction management best practices.
• Manage contracts: prime/subcontracts, change orders, cost forecasts, and related documentation; uphold internal controls at each step.
• Inspect work in progress to ensure quality, schedule, and specifications; maintain relationships with staff, subcontractors, vendors, architects, and professionals.
• Report status, successes, challenges, and action plans to management on a timely basis.

Assure that internal controls are in place at each step of the process.Inspect work in place and work in progress to ensure same meets or exceeds quality, specification, and schedule requirementsMaintain strong working relationships with internal and external team members including staff, subcontractors, vendors, architects, and other industry professionalsSelf-growth by seeking out training, professional development, and career advancement opportunitiesProvide subject-matter expertise in areas of responsibilityReports status, successes, challenges, and plans of action to management team and company on a timely basisQUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in engineering, construction management or a related field.7+ years progressive experience in successfully managing commercial construction projects or programsStrong working knowledge of building construction and project management processes and procedures at a national scale.Strong working knowledge and experience of the design of data centers in various geographies in North America.Ability to analyze and evaluate construction documents including drawings, specifications and contractsCompetency in CPM scheduling methods, construction cost estimating, proposal generation and development, document management and contract administrationProficiency in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, and other industry computer applications.Exceptional leadership, communication, written and verbal presentation, and team-building skills proven in multiple international regions.Demonstrated success building and leading teams of construction professionals at varying levels of professional development proven in multiple international regions.Excellent leadership and management skills, exceptional communication, negotiation, and analytical skills required proven in multiple international regions.Ability to multi-task and work with team on projects in an extremely fast paced and demanding environment.Highly organized and detail oriented.Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
