Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson (JMT) seeks a Senior Construction Inspector to join our Trenton Construction Services Team. The incumbent will supervise project inspection activities, coordinate staff, review documentation and ensure safety, environmental and DBE requirements are met.

Compensation ranges from $50.00 to $65.00 per hour, commensurate with experience, education and certifications. The position involves field work and interaction with clients, agencies and contractors.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• NICET III or equivalent experience.
• 5-10 years of construction inspection experience.
• Client requested certifications (NJSAT, ACI, TCC, OSHA).
• Knowledge of construction techniques, reading plans, procedures, methods, equipment and materials.
• Supervisory experience in construction management/inspection situations.
• Ability to act in an Owner’s Agent/Responsible in Charge role.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise project inspection activities and review contractor plans, documents and standards.
• Assign, schedule and maintain subordinate inspection staff through all project phases.
• Review and maintain project documentation, ensuring progress and safety compliance.
• Prepare, review and submit inspection reports, work orders and estimates.
• Notify contractor of non-compliance and corrective action.
• Assist in review and evaluation of contractor schedules.
• Track progress and advise parties of overruns and issues.
• Complete analysis of field tests and communicate results.
• Attend pre-bid/pre-construction/meetings and provide progress updates.
• Interact with public agencies, contractors and other parties to respond to inquiries.
• Draft correspondence, facilitate meetings and resolve field issues.

JMT is seeking Senior Construction Inspectors to join our Trenton Construction Services Team. The successful candidate will perform as a principal inspector responsible for the supervision of projects in construction inspection engineering work.

Compensation is $50.00-$65.00/hour, commensurate with experience, education, and certifications.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise project inspection activities, reviewing contractor compliance of plans, contract documents, specifications and standards
• Assign, schedule and maintain subordinate inspection staff throughout all phases of the project
• Review and maintain all pertinent project documentation, monitoring that it accurately details construction progress, activities and materials, meets environmental permitting conditions, comply with safety policies and programs, and monitors EEO and DBE progress and performance
• Prepare, review and submit project inspection reports, work authorizations, work orders and estimates
• Notify contractor of non-compliance and corrective action
• Assist in review, analysis and evaluation of contractor schedules
• Track project progress and advises parties of possible overruns, and critical project issues
• Completes analysis of field tests
• Attend pre-bid, pre-construction and/or management level meetings throughout the course of the project, assist the client with estimate, change orders, claim defense, shop drawings, RFI, sub-consultants, material testing and provide updates to the client construction progress and issues
• Interact with the general public, government agencies, contractors, sub-contractors, and other internal and external parties to respond to inquiries
• Work on behalf of the Client to draft project correspondence, facilitate project meetings, and resolve construction related field issues

Required Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent
• NICET III or equivalent experience
• 5 -10 years of construction inspection experience

Working Conditions

Work is performed in the field. Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs as needed. Work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
