Job summary

Dewberry is seeking a Chief Construction Inspector to oversee projects in the greater NYC metropolitan area, reviewing specifications, plans, field work methods, costs, and supervising inspectors on site to verify contract compliance.

Qualified candidates will have extensive NYSDOT/NYC agency experience and NICET IV in Transportation/Highway and Bridge Construction or equivalent, OSHA 10, and SiteManager knowledge. Strong communication and field computation skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years prior construction inspection experience on NYCDDC or NYSTA projects.
• NICET II, III or IV Certification in Transportation/Highway and Bridge Construction or equivalent.
• OSHA 10 hour certification.
• DDC Water Main Training, NJSAT, ACI and Rutgers TCC certifications and knowledge of SiteManager are also desirable.
• Additional requirements include excellent communications skills, ability to read and interpret plans and specifications, and ability to perform complex quantity and engineering computations.
• Physically able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and terrains.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Review job specifications, plans, and field methods for projects.
• Supervise inspectors on the job site to verify compliance with contract documents.
• Evaluate costs and approve field adjustments as needed.
• Coordinate with NYSDOT, NYCDEP, NYSTA or other agencies as required.
• Communicate efficiently with project team and stakeholders.
