Job summary

HNTB is seeking a skilled construction inspector for on-site roles in Florida. The candidate will inspect, document, and verify work progress, ensuring conformance to project schedules, plans, and specifications.

The role includes advising on corrective actions, reviewing field reports, and performing complex field measurements and tests. The ideal candidate will hold a High School Diploma/GED with 9 years of construction experience and all required state certifications.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent and 9 years of construction related experience.
• All required jurisdictional certificates and state requirements.
• Identifies and resolves complex change conditions.
• Mentors staff and coordinates schedules.
• Identifies and resolves complex field issues with the contractor.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Responsible for performing highly complex technical assignments in field surveying and construction layout, marking, and checking engineering computations, inspecting construction work, and conducting field tests.
• Responsible for coordinating and managing the lower-level inspectors.
• Responsible for performing work under the general supervision of the Project Administrator (when applicable).

Responsibilities

• Inspects, observes, documents, and verifies work in progress by the construction contractor to ensure compliance with project schedule, contract documents and plans. Confirms procedures are followed and material used conforms to specifications.
• Advises Contractor superintendent of necessary actions to ensure conformance with plan, specs, and contract. Reviews and resolves quantity disputes with contractor.
• Utilizes engineering inspection practices to perform sophisticated and complicated mathematical calculations, constructability and biddability reviews, and measurements of completed work to date.
• Reviews Inspector's daily report of assigned work activities, contactor labor and equipment, quantity of material received and verified.
• Performs on-site material testing and produces as-constructed sketches
• May lead daily assignments, mentor, and train employees.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
