Job summary

WSB, a design and consulting firm, is seeking a Senior CEI Construction Inspector to support our highway team. You will work with technical experts to develop new techniques and mentor early professionals while assisting resident engineers and project administrators with inspection work aligned to project specifications.

The role focuses on on-site inspection, materials testing, record-keeping, and quality control.

Qualifications

• CEI experience in roadway or bridge projects.
• Must have high school diploma or GED.
• CTQP certifications and levels listed in the required qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Monitoring on-site construction activities.
• Inspecting materials per client scope of services (plans, specs, provisions). Transport samples for testing in a lab.
• Maintaining detailed records of daily operations and significant events; fulfilling other duties.
• Preparing daily inspection reports.
• Monitoring and inspecting Work Zone Traffic Control per client requirements.
• Performing inspection of contractor’s quality control procedures.
• Performing material testing and verifying conformance to Quality Control Plan.
• Reviewing material testing procedures and results for contract conformance; measuring quantities.
• Sampling or in-place testing of soil, aggregate base, concrete, and asphalt pavement as needed.

We are looking for a Senior CEI Construction Inspector to add to our highway team and work alongside our technical experts to provide contributions to the development of new techniques and standards. Help our team grow by mentoring the early professionals while assisting resident engineers and project administrators in completion of inspection work in accordance with projects and client specifications.

What You Will Do

• Monitoring on-site construction activities.
• Inspecting materials in accordance with the client’s scope of services (plans, specifications, and special provisions). Transporting samples to be tested in a Department laboratory or appropriate facility.
• Maintaining detailed accurate records of daily operations and significant events. Fulfilling other duties as needed.
• Preparing daily inspection reports.
• Monitoring and inspecting the Work Zone Traffic Control (in accordance with the client’s requirements).
• Performs inspection of the contractor’s quality control procedures.
• Performs material testing and verifies that procedures are in conformance with the approved Quality Control Plan and established procedures.
• Reviews material testing procedures and results for conformance to the contract and measures quantities of materials placed.
• May be required to perform sampling and/or in‑place testing of soil, aggregate base, concrete, and asphalt concrete pavement.

What You Will Bring

• At least 10+ years in CEI experience in roadway or bridge projects.
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• Valid State’s driver’s license and the ability to pass a motor vehicle background check.
• CTQP Certifications.
• CTQP Final Estimates Level I.
• CTQP Concrete Field Technician Level I.
• CTQP Concrete Field Inspector Level II (Bridges).
• CTQP Asphalt Roadway Level I.
• CTQP Asphalt Roadway Level II.
• CTQP Earthwork Construction Inspection Level I.
• CTQP Earthwork Construction Inspection Level II.
• CTQP Pile Driving Inspection.
• CTQP Drilled Shaft Inspection.
• Operatestools requiring fine motor skills.
• Moves materials weighing up to 75 pounds periodically.
• Traversesconstruction sites having uneven terrain, slopes, confined spaces, or reinforced trenches.
• Conducts visual assessments of task quality and job site safety.
• Positions selfto access tools and materials in various locations.
• Ascends/descends into job site areas to complete inspections and data collection.
• May remain in stationary position for extended periods.:
• Primarily field-based role must be comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Full‑time position with standard business hours; occasional night work or overtime may be required based on project deadlines.
• Must be able to work onsite at a WSB office, as needed, as required by the project, client, or hiring manager.
• Reliable transportation required and the ability to travel daily within assigned territory.
• Travel may be required.

Required for inspection of all drilled shafts including miscellaneous structures such as sign structures, lighting structures, and traffic signal structure foundations.

• FDOT Intermediate MOT.
• IMSA Traffic Signal Inspector Level I.
• Nuclear Radiation Safety.
• Florida Stormwater, Erosion, and Sedimentation Control Training and Certification Program for Inspectors and Contractors.
