GFT is seeking a Sr. Construction Inspector to join our Construction Services team in North Carolina offices, with a hybrid work model requiring regular on-site presence.

The salary range for this role is $67,000 - $96,000 and compensation reflects experience. The successful candidate will oversee construction activities, conduct inspections, and manage documentation to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and safety standards.

Qualifications

• 10+ years progressive experience in transportation engineering and inspection of bridges and/or highways.

Responsibilities

• Measure distances to verify dimensions of structural installations and layouts.
• Verify levels, alignment, and elevation of installations.
• Observe work in progress to ensure procedures and materials conform to specs.
• Prepare samples of materials for laboratory testing.
• Examine workmanship of finished installations for conformity to standards.
• Interpret plans and specifications for Contractor and discuss deviations to ensure compliance.
• Record quantities of materials received or used; develop pay estimates and change orders.
• Maintain daily log of construction and inspection activities and compare progress reports.
• Monitor several types of work activity, though not simultaneously.
• Maintain construction safety practices and methods for compliance.
• Manage documents using AASHTOWare, e-Builder, or Transport.

GFT is seeking a Sr. Construction Inspector to join our Construction Services team in one of our North Carolina offices! This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at one of our North Carolina offices.

What you’ll be challenged to do:

This is an excellent career opportunity for an experienced candidate with a minimum of 10 years' professional experience to join a collaborative team environment. The role highlights a customer-focused mindset and a passion for delivering exceptional quality and results on every project. This role inspects and oversees construction work to ensure that results, procedures and materials comply with plans and specifications. This role will serve as a daily point of contact with clients and contractors, and manage all aspects of a project including construction observations, material testing and maintaining documentation.

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

• Manage documents using electronic platforms such as AASHTOWare, e-Builder, or Transport

What you will bring to our firm:

• High school diploma.
• 10+ years progressive experience in transportation engineering and inspection of bridge and/or highway structures on state NCDOT, municipal, and/or multimodal projects.
• A safety-first mindset.
• Strong writing, listening and communication skills.

What we prefer you bring:

• ACI Field and/or NCDOT certification are recommended, but not required.
• Ability to work collaboratively with peers, clients and contractors to solve problems and conflicts.
• Ability and desire to lead.

Compensation:

The salary range for this role is $67,000 - $96,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
