Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years in transportation engineering and inspection of bridge/highway structures on state/NCDOT or municipal projects.
• High school diploma required; safety-first mindset and strong communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Measure distances to verify dimensions and layouts of structural installations.
• Verify levels, alignment, and elevations of installations.
• Observe work to ensure procedures and materials conform to plans and specs.
• Prepare material samples for laboratory testing.
• Inspect workmanship and approve installations.
• Interpret plans and discuss deviations with Contractors to ensure compliance.
• Record material quantities, develop pay estimates and change orders.
• Maintain daily logs and compare progress reports.
• Monitor multiple work types, not simultaneously.
• Maintain construction safety practices and use electronic documentation platforms.

GFT is seeking a Sr. Construction Inspector to join our Construction Services team in one of our North Carolina offices! What You’ll Be Challenged To Do

This is an excellent career opportunity for an experienced candidate with a minimum of 10 years' professional experience to join a collaborative team environment. The role highlights a customer-focused mindset and a passion for delivering exceptional quality and results on every project. This role inspects and oversees construction work to ensure that results, procedures and materials comply with plans and specifications. This role will serve as a daily point of contact with clients and contractors, and manage all aspects of a project including construction observations, material testing and maintaining documentation.

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

• Maintain daily log of construction and inspection activities and compare progress reports.
• Monitor several types of work activity, however not simultaneously.
• Maintain construction safety practices and work methods for compliance
• Manage documents using electronic platforms such as AASHTOWare, e-Builder, or Transport

Education | Experience:

What you will bring to our firm:

• High school diploma.
• 10+ years progressive experience in transportation engineering and inspection of bridge and/or highway structures on state NCDOT, municipal, and/or multimodal projects.
• A safety-first mindset.
• Strong writing, listening and communication skills.

What we prefer you bring:

• ACI Field and/or NCDOT certification are recommended, but not required.
• Ability to work collaboratively with peers, clients and contractors to solve problems and conflicts.
• Ability and desire to lead.

Compensation

The salary range for this role is $67,000 - $96,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
