Job summary

Consertus, Inc. seeks an experienced Construction Manager/Resident Engineer to support Caltrans projects in Ventura County. You will manage field inspection, contract administration, and technical oversight to ensure safe, efficient construction in accordance with plans and standards.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management, at least 3 years of Caltrans experience, and the ability to travel to project sites. A California PE license is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of Caltrans-related construction experience.
• Knowledge of roadway construction practices, specifications, and procedures.
• Experience with roadway, highway, bridge, or other transportation infrastructure projects.
• Ability to travel to Ventura County project sites as required.

Responsibilities

• Provide construction management and field oversight for Caltrans transportation projects.
• Perform and oversee daily construction inspection and documentation.
• Interpret and enforce Caltrans Standard Specifications, Special Provisions, plans, and contract requirements.
• Monitor contractor activities, construction progress, quality, schedule, and compliance.
• Review submittals, RFIs, change orders, time impacts, payment quantities, and project documentation.
• Coordinate with Caltrans personnel, contractors, subcontractors, utility companies, and other project stakeholders.
• Identify and resolve construction issues and provide technically sound recommendations.
• Support project meetings, progress reporting, claims avoidance, and contract administration.
• Ensure compliance with Caltrans safety, quality, environmental, and traffic-control requirements.
