Job summary

HDR in the Federal PMCM group is seeking a Senior Construction Inspector to oversee diverse construction activities in Louisiana and nearby sites. You will inspect electrical, mechanical/HVAC, structural, and site civil works, read and interpret drawings and specifications, and identify discrepancies on active projects.

Your experience will help ensure safety, quality, and compliance with contract requirements.

Responsibilities

• Inspect electrical, mechanical/HVAC, structural and site civil works.
• Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications and identify discrepancies.
• Document construction observations as the project progresses.
• Serve as the most senior inspector on projects when needed.
• Collaborate with Project Managers and other field staff.
• Mentor junior field staff and provide supervision as needed.

Job description

In the role of Senior Construction Inspector, we’ll count on you to:

• Demonstrate familiarity with a broad spectrum of construction materials, methods and processes for buildings and facilities
• Conduct inspection of electrical, mechanical/HVAC, structural and site civil
• Mentor junior field staff and provide supervision as needed
• Collaborate with other field representatives or Project Managers
• Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications, and identify discrepancies or conflicts within documents
• Conduct and document observations of construction as it progresses
• Serve as the most senior inspector on projects as needed
• Perform other duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Technical school or Associate’s degree
• Relevant industry certifications
• Ability to interpret construction schedules
• Experience with Department of War facilities and construction contracts

Required Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent. (Candidates with 8 years of relevant construction inspection experience may substitute experience for a high school diploma)
• A minimum of 5 years experience
• Proficient with MS Office (Word/Excel/Outlook)
• Strong written communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
