Job summary

Burnett Staffing Specialists in Phoenix, AZ seeks a Construction Estimator to develop accurate and competitive estimates for proposals, change orders, ROM budgets, and opportunities. You will assist with and, when assigned, lead estimates from initial review through final bid submission.

The role requires reviewing drawings and specs, performing quantity takeoffs, soliciting subcontractor pricing, and coordinating with Preconstruction, Project Management, Engineering, and Business Development

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of construction estimating experience.
• Experience preparing General Contractor Lump Sum bids.
• Experience managing estimates from initial bid documents through final bid submission.
• Experience estimating projects in multiple regions of the United States.
• Strong understanding of regional labor, subcontractor markets, material costs, logistics and pricing.
• Ability to prepare ROM and conceptual estimates from limited drawings or notes.
• Strong knowledge of drawings, specs, contracts, scopes of work.
• Ability to identify missing scope, exclusions and financial exposure.
• Ability to perform detailed quantity takeoffs using on-screen takeoff software.
• Strong analytical and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage and prepare General Contractor Lump Sum bids for assigned opportunities.
• Review drawings, specifications, conceptual designs, bid instructions to develop estimates.
• Develop detailed estimates from conceptual design through final documents.
• Prepare conceptual budgets and final Lump Sum proposals.
• Develop bid scopes and trade packages defining subcontractor responsibilities.
• Solicit competitive pricing from qualified subcontractors and suppliers.
• Obtain and evaluate multiple proposals for each bid package when possible.
• Negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers for favorable terms.
• Develop pricing for labor, materials, equipment, overhead, and contingencies.
• Identify risks and communicate estimates to Preconstruction Manager and project leadership.
• Collaborate with Preconstruction, PM, Engineering, and BD teams.
• Conduct site visits to evaluate conditions affecting cost.
