Job summary

Martell Services Group is seeking an experienced estimator to develop complete system estimates for complex construction projects. The role reports to the VP of Pre-Construction Services or Operations Manager and supports the entire estimating process from start to finish.

The candidate will prepare takes-offs, obtain quotes, apply labor factors, review contracts, and collaborate with project managers and the operations team to validate execution strategy and cost models.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and construction estimating experience.
• Ability to work independently or in a team.
• Knowledge of electrical/mechanical installation, estimating techniques, and cost control.
• Ability to interpret computerized cost data and system information.
• Ability to perform detailed work and meet deadlines.
• Strong verbal and written communication and stakeholder relations.
• Problem-solving mindset and organizational skills.
• Team-oriented approach with organizational focus.
• Familiarity with estimating databases and Microsoft Suite.

Responsibilities

• Prepare project estimates with quantity take-offs, manpower, equipment, materials, and subcontractor needs.
• Obtain quotes from suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors.
• Develop labor factors based on site conditions and data.
• Clarify questions affecting the estimate and input estimating information from contracts and finance.
• Establish early communication with General contractor/Client.
• Follow estimating processes and contribute to process improvements.
• Work with Project Managers on preliminary plans and equipment selection.
• Communicate with Operations during bid cycle to validate strategy and indirect costs.
• Identify risks and contingencies with Project Managers.
• Prepare cost studies using historical data and comparisons.
• Conduct bid review meetings to finalize estimates.
• Prepare pricing sheets, bid forms, and in-house proposals.
• Attend bid and project kick-off meetings.
• Assist with estimating database maintenance and resource planning.
