Job summary

The University of Georgia in the Athens area is seeking a Construction Worker II to support grounds heavy equipment activities. You will operate skid steers, backhoes, excavators, dozers and dump trucks for civil projects, and assist with utility work, pavement, and concrete tasks.

Some night and weekend work may be required. Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent with 2 years of related experience; Class B CDL is preferred, with in-house CDL training if not already

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of related experience.
• Preferred: Class B CDL and 2 years of construction experience.

Responsibilities

• Operate skid steers, backhoes, excavators, dozers, and dump trucks for civil projects (60%).
• Excavate and install utility piping and assist with repairs (10%).
• Set elevations and bases for new pavement construction (10%).
• Assist asphalt placement and concrete forming/placement (10%).
• Set up traffic control, barricades, cones and temporary signage (10%).
