This advanced position within the Grounds Heavy Equipment division is responsible for supporting a wide range of construction and maintenance operations. The incumbent assists Concrete Masons with the forming and placement of concrete and serves as a spotter during excavation activities. Responsibilities include assisting with backfilling and grading for curb, sidewalk, storm sewer installations, and utility repairs, as well as verifying grade specifications for asphalt and concrete placement. The employee operates a dump truck and demonstrates moderate proficiency in the operation of heavy equipment, including but not limited to skid steers, backhoes, mini excavators and breakers. These skills are utilized in hauling operations and in support of various trade-related tasks. Candidates who do not currently possess a Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) will be required to complete the in-house Entry Level Driver Training (ELDT) program and obtain a CDL Learner's Permit within six months of hire. During this period, operation will be limited to equipment not requiring a Class B CDL. Additional responsibilities include proficiency in traffic control and providing support as needed across projects. The incumbent will perform other assigned duties as required and must report during inclement weather conditions to assist with snow and ice removal, as well as clearing downed trees.
