Job summary

Rutherford is seeking an experienced Construction Lawyer to support the legal delivery of large-scale data center developments in the United States. This strategic, business-facing role partners with construction, design, engineering, and delivery teams throughout the project lifecycle.

You will draft, review, and negotiate contracts, advise on risk allocation, manage disputes, and help develop scalable contract templates and processes.

Qualifications

• Eight+ years in construction law with infrastructure or data center projects.
• Experience negotiating construction and commercial contracts for major developments.
• Expertise in construction risk management, claims, and change orders.
• Experience supporting owners, developers, or EPC teams on complex projects.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate construction, design, engineering, procurement, and commercial agreements for data center developments.
• Advise on contract strategy, risk allocation, and commercial issues across complex projects.
• Support construction claims, delays, change orders, and dispute resolution.
• Partner with project stakeholders to provide practical, commercially focused legal advice.
• Manage external counsel and help develop scalable contract templates and processes.
• Deliver contract guidance and risk management support to internal teams.
