Job summary

The Axel Group, a luxury builder and real estate developer near Bonita Springs, FL, seeks a Controller to lead accounting operations across multiple entities.

This role requires significant construction accounting experience, strong GL, job costing, WIP analysis, and the ability to drive internal controls, forecasting, and reporting. CPA preferred but not required; salary $150k-$180k, plus benefits.

Qualifications

• Significant progressive construction accounting experience.
• Experience leading an accounting function or team.
• Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and controls.
• Construction project accounting, job costing, WIP, and budget-to-actual analysis.
• Background with a GC, subcontractor, developer, or builder.
• Residential construction experience a plus.
• Experience managing accounting for multiple entities.
• Ability to connect project activity to company-wide reporting.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day construction accounting operations (GL, AP, AR, reconciliations, close).
• Prepare timely financial statements and management reports across multiple entities.
• Lead project accounting and job costing reporting with WIP analysis.
• Monitor budgets, costs, change orders, and variances for profitability.
• Manage cash flow forecasting and budgeting processes.
• Establish internal controls and accounting policies.
• Lead and develop the accounting team and improve workflows.
• Coordinate with CPAs, tax advisors, and auditors.
