Job summary

Abacus Solutions Group is seeking an experienced Controller to lead all accounting and financial operations across multiple projects and business units. This role will oversee financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow, and internal controls while driving profitability through data-driven analysis.

You will manage job costing, WIP, audits, and monthly/ quarterly statements, partnering with leadership to support strategic decisions in a fast-paced environment. CPA preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 7+ years of accounting/finance experience with at least 3 years in the construction industry.
• Strong understanding of construction accounting including WIP reporting and job costing.
• Experience with ERP/accounting software such as Sage, Foundation, Viewpoint, or similar systems.
• CPA designation preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and month-end close
• Manage job costing, WIP schedules, percentage-of-completion accounting, and project financial reporting
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management processes
• Ensure compliance with GAAP standards, covenants, and internal controls
• Coordinate annual audits and work directly with external CPA firms and banking partners
• Analyze financial performance and provide recommendations to improve profitability and operational efficiency
• Monitor project costs, labor reporting, subcontractor expenses, and contract billing
• Develop and improve accounting systems, reporting tools, and financial processes
• Partner closely with operational leadership to support strategic decision-making
• Supervise and mentor accounting and payroll staff
