Job summary

CMTA, a Legence company, is hiring an experienced Senior Construction Administrator to join our Richmond, VA office. This full-time, in-office role focuses on managing project specifications, overseeing contract and construction documents, and supporting field activities with the design team.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in engineering, 10+ years of relevant experience, proficiency with Bluebeam and Procore, and a proven ability to coordinate with multiple design teams,

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
  • 10+ years experience in design, construction administration, or skilled trades.
  • Proficiency with Adobe/Bluebeam, MS Office, and electronic document management systems (Newforma/Procore).
  • Experience coordinating with multiple design team members on construction-related correspondence.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and multitasking.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with contract language, current code requirements, and manufacturer information.
  • Process construction administration documents (shop drawings, RFIs, change orders, pay apps, closeout).
  • Review submittals and incorporate design team comments.
  • Prepare preliminary RFIs responses with design team input.
  • Conduct onsite inspections 2–3 days/week to monitor progress.
  • Prepare field observation reports.
  • Maintain and update electronic construction plan sets with design team.
  • Assist with project schedules and logs.
  • Communicate clearly with internal staff and external clients.
  • Mentor design staff on constructability and field learnings.
  • Coordinate completion of closeout documents.

Position Overview:

CMTA is hiring an experienced Senior Construction Administrator to join our diverse team of engineering professionals in the Richmond, VA office. This position will be responsible for managing project specifications and overseeing contract and construction documents. This is a full-time, in-office position with working hours Monday through Friday, offering opportunities for professional growth within the organization.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Ensure compliance with project contract language, current code requirements, and current manufacturer information.

  • Assist with construction administration document processing activities, including shop drawings, RFIs, change orders, pay applications, and closeout documents.

  • Perform preliminary reviews of submittals and incorporate comments from the design team in final responses.

  • Prepare preliminary answers for RFIs and incorporate comments from the design team in the final responses.

  • Perform onsite construction inspections to ensure projects are constructed in accordance with contract documents and to resolve conflicts. Anticipated 2-3 days a week of construction site visits to monitor progress of projects.

  • Prepare field observation reports.

  • Help to maintain and update electronic construction plan sets working with the design team.

  • Assist with maintaining project schedules and logs.

  • Communicate clearly and effectively with both internal staff and external clients regarding project inquiries or procedures/requirements.

  • Mentor and train design staff based on constructability feedback and lessons learned from field observations as well as construction administration processes.

  • Coordinate completion of closeout documents.


Desired Experience:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.

  • 10+ years of experience as a design engineer or construction administration professional or skilled tradesperson.

  • Proficiency with Adobe/Bluebeam and Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.

  • Proficiency with Electronic Document Management Systems such as Newforma or Procore.

  • Demonstrated capability in coordinating with multiple design team members to manage construction related correspondence.

  • High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple tasks.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to listen and understand internal customer expectations.

  • Ability to manage schedules to meet critical deadlines.


Base Salary Range:

$110,000 - $140,000. T his role is also eligible for an annual performance‑based bonus. Bonus eligibility and payout are determined by role, individual performance, and company performance, and are not guaranteed.
