Job description

At Jacobs, we’re challenging today to reinvent tomorrow by solving the world’s most critical problems for thriving cities, resilient environments, mission‑critical outcomes, operational advancement, scientific discovery and cutting‑edge manufacturing, turning abstract ideas into realities that transform the world for good.

Your impact

We’re seeking a Senior Constructability Lead to be based in St. Louis, Missouri, serving as the owner’s technical representative during design and construction by identifying constructability issues, design conflicts, sequencing challenges, coordination gaps, and execution risks before they impact cost, schedule, quality, or mission objectives.

As a member of our Construction Contract Administration (CCA) team, you will serve as the onsite constructability lead supporting multidisciplinary teams of architects, engineers, construction managers, and project stakeholders throughout construction. Working as an owner’s representative, you will identify constructability concerns, design conflicts, coordination challenges, and execution risks throughout project delivery to support successful project delivery.

The ideal candidate is a self‑directed construction professional with demonstrated experience supporting complex construction projects, building productive relationships with clients and contractors, and exercising sound professional judgment with limited supervision. They will leverage construction planning, constructability and field execution experience to proactively identify and resolve design, coordination, sequencing, and construction challenges before they impact project cost, schedule, quality, safety, or mission success.

Experience supporting federal projects for DoD clients, Federal Civilian, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), the Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC), the Air Force Civil Engineer Center (AFCEC), and/or various Defense Contractors is strongly preferred.

This position requires full‑time onsite support at the project location. The successful candidate will work onsite five days per week and maintain direct engagement with other Jacobs representatives, construction management team, designers, the client, and contractors throughout project delivery.

Responsibilities include
  • Lead multidisciplinary constructability reviews throughout design and construction phases to identify design conflicts, constructability concerns, coordination gaps, and execution risks. These include reviews of civil, site infrastructure, utility, transportation, and facility systems to identify construction constraints, coordination issues, and opportunities for improved project execution.
  • Identify and communicate potential impacts to cost, schedule, quality, safety, operability, and maintainability resulting from design or construction decisions.
  • Review contractor means and methods, staging plans, work packages, and implementation strategies to identify execution risks and improve constructability.
  • Facilitate collaboration between designers, contractors, and project stakeholders to improve constructability and support successful project delivery.
  • Evaluate construction contractor sequencing, phasing, logistics plans, site access requirements, temporary works, and installation strategies.
  • Review and evaluate BIM models, clash detection reports, coordinated drawings, and design integration efforts to identify and resolve conflicts prior to construction.
  • Evaluate project impacts arising from RFIs, differing site conditions, contractor requests, delays, change proposals, and constructability challenges. Support project teams in identifying practical solutions that reduce execution risk and improve project outcomes.
  • Review, interpret, and apply construction drawings, Division 01 specifications, General Conditions, Supplemental Conditions, technical specifications, agreements, and other contract documents in support of construction‑phase decision making and contract administration activities.
  • Perform onsite reviews to validate design assumptions, identify field constraints, and assess construction progress against project requirements.
  • Effectively communicate, collaborate, and lead constructability workshops involving designers, construction teams, clients, and project stakeholders.
  • Understand relationships, roles, and responsibilities of the project team related to subcontracts and subcontractors.
  • Confer with project team to discuss and resolve project issues.
  • Attend the General Contractors weekly or bi‑weekly OAC Quality Assurance construction progress meetings with the Client and other participants via virtual and/or on‑site attendance.
Here’s what you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Engineering, or related discipline and 8+ years of relevant experience; or 12+ years of demonstrated construction management, constructability, or project delivery experience in lieu of a degree.
  • One or more relevant professional certifications preferred, including CCM, DBIA, PMP, or PE.
  • Demonstrated experience performing constructability reviews, construction planning, design‑build coordination, construction coordination, or project delivery support for complex infrastructure or facility projects.
  • Demonstrated experience serving in a client‑facing construction contract administration, construction management, resident engineering, or owner’s representative role leading multi‑discipline project teams.
  • In‑depth understanding of construction contract documents, including drawings, specifications, Division 01 requirements, General Conditions, Supplemental Conditions, and construction contract administration procedures.
  • Experience supporting civil/site infrastructure, heavy civil, utility, transportation, campus, or large facility construction projects is strongly preferred.
