Job summary

Kemper in Chicago, IL is seeking a Senior Manager Consolidations & Financial Reporting to own the close calendar and manage US GAAP consolidations. You will prepare consolidated financial statements, the cash flow statement, and the financial supplement, while coordinating with Tax, Investments, Treasury, and multiple accounting areas.

You will collaborate with auditors, drive process improvements, and ensure accurate, timely reporting.

Qualifications

• CPA preferred.
• 10+ years of accounting experience.
• Experience with general ledger consolidations and financial statements.
• Familiarity with US GAAP; statutory accounting is a plus.
• Experience navigating a large ERP environment.
• Strong MS Excel skills.
• Excellent communication with management.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, own, and distribute the monthly & quarterly close calendar to ensure the GAAP financial close is completed timely and accurately.
• Manage all consolidation related processes for the US GAAP close including intercompany, inter and intra-segment eliminations, and suspense account analysis.
• Prepare consolidated balance sheet, income statement, and statement of equity as well as segment level income statements and exhibits on operating expenses.
• Prepare and review the Cash Flows statement working with Tax, Investments, Treasury, and departments across P&C, Life, and Corporate Accounting.
• Prepare and review the Financial Supplement.
• Prepare non-GAAP Income Statements.
• Interact with internal and external auditors to provide necessary support.
• Lead process improvement projects.
