Job description

About Vantage

Developing and operating across North America, EMEA and Asia Pacific, Vantage has evolved data center design in innovative ways to deliver dramatic gains in reliability, efficiency and sustainability in flexible environments that can scale as quickly as the market demands.

Network Connectivity Department

The Network Connectivity team enables scalable, reliable and carrier-neutral connectivity across Vantage North American campuses. The team supports new site diligence, fiber and conduit infrastructure planning, carrier and customer connectivity, Meet‑Me‑Room (MMR) readiness, interconnection services, data governance and the operational standards required to deliver a consistent customer experience across the region.

Position Overview

This position can be based in a hybrid capacity at any of Vantage’s U.S. locations (3 days in the office, 2 days remote). The Connectivity Manager is responsible for leading the strategy, planning, and delivery of connectivity solutions that support Vantage Data Centers' development and operational objectives. This role oversees connectivity initiatives from early feasibility and site selection through construction and delivery, ensuring data center campuses meet customer network requirements and are ready for service activation on day one. Working closely with internal stakeholders, carriers, consultants, and customers, the Connectivity Manager drives regional connectivity strategies, manages project schedules and budgets, negotiates carrier agreements, and supports the design and implementation of critical telecommunications infrastructure across Vantage's growing portfolio.

Essential Job Functions
  • Lead feasibility (developing connectivity strategy) through contract execution and delivery (e.g., lit fiber).
  • Contribute to the design, schedule and CAPEX estimates during pre‑construction phases and assist with relevant contract negotiations.
  • Brief and transition ownership of fiber telecommunications infrastructure to VDC Construction Managers at the appropriate time for execution.
  • Develop and maintain regional connectivity strategy, including productization of connectivity, aligned with the management team's expectations and direction.
  • Ensure accountability results across all connectivity projects, assignments, and initiatives, including budget and schedule management, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Stay current with new technologies, products, and innovative opportunities both within and outside the data center industry to enhance future deliveries.
Duties
  • Ensure Vantage has sites that meet customer network requirements, including KMZ creation and management in existing and new markets.
  • Conduct long‑haul evaluations and develop schedules with cost certainty for the last mile.
  • Acquire dark fiber facilities to ensure all customers can activate services from day one.
  • Negotiate carrier agreements to reduce costs while ensuring dark fiber availability on‑premises from day one.
  • Support D&E with campus and building designs for internal and external conduit routing, including MMR/POE layout and customer fit‑outs.
  • In conjunction with VDC commercial teams and third‑party consultants, qualify consultants, vendors, and contractors.
  • Provide technical support as needed, including preparing technical materials for presentations to prospective customers and supporting marketing efforts to outline connectivity strategies.
Job Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in large‑scale connectivity delivery.
  • Solid understanding of data center ecosystems and a network of key providers, with a recognized degree in computer science or equivalent preferred.
  • Project management experience, with the ability to conduct full feasibility studies.
  • Knowledge of customer requirements, business drivers, financials, and relevant legislative requirements.
  • Strong IT skills, with the ability to use multiple communication tools and software packages.
  • Demonstrated strong negotiation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills at all organizational levels and with third parties, such as suppliers.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and self‑directed; able to work in various circumstances, including remotely, while traveling, across multiple time zones, cross‑functionally, and by project.
  • Highly organized with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, work well under pressure, and prioritize work efforts with minimal supervision.
