Job summary

Zone 5 Technologies in San Luis Obispo, CA is seeking a Senior Configuration Management Specialist (Level III) to independently execute and coordinate CM across programs, products, and lifecycles. You will partner with engineering, quality, manufacturing, and software teams to maintain configuration integrity from concept through production and sustainment.

This on-site role offers location flexibility among Dallas-Fort Worth, Fort Walton Beach, or San Luis Obispo.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related discipline, with at least five years of CM experience.
• Experience performing configuration identification, change control, status accounting, baseline management, release management, and audits.
• Experience in aerospace, defense, manufacturing, or other regulated environments.
• Working knowledge of drawings, BOMs, revisions, serialization, and lifecycle records.
• Ability to evaluate change packages for cross-functional impact and trace changes.

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day CM execution for programs, ensuring alignment with enterprise policies and contracts.
• Develop and maintain CM plans, procedures, work instructions, checklists, and lifecycle records.
• Establish configuration identifications and product structures for hardware, software, firmware, and data.
• Coordinate baseline activities across lifecycle and contract requirements.
• Support and facilitate CM change boards (CCBs) and SCCBs with agenda and tracking.
• Review change documentation for completeness, traceability, and impact.
• Maintain status accounting, baselines, releases, and data deliveries.
• Verify changes are implemented across drawings, BOMs, software, and records.
• Align requirements and BOMs with ERP/MRP, MES, QMS, PLM, and repositories.
• Perform release-readiness and baseline completeness reviews before milestones.
• Support audits, readiness reviews, first article activities, and compliance assessments.
• Identify and resolve CM data discrepancies across engineering and manufacturing records.
• Coordinate data packages for customer delivery and audits.
• Contribute CM scope, schedules, risks, and estimates to proposals.
• Develop CM metrics and concise status reports on progress and risks.
• Provide CM guidance and mentor junior staff in established processes.
• Collaborate across sites to ensure consistent CM execution.
