Job summary

Zone 5 Technologies is seeking a Sr. Configuration Management Specialist to establish, execute, and govern configuration management across the product lifecycle.

You will lead, mentor, and influence cross-functional teams to mature CM capabilities, governance, and culture adoption, representing CM to senior leadership, customers, and external authorities. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or related field preferred.
• 7–10 years of experience in configuration management, engineering, or manufacturing within an aerospace or regulated manufacturing environment.
• 2–5 years of leadership or supervisory experience is strongly preferred.
• Deep knowledge of configuration management standards (e.g., AS9100, EIA‑649) and lifecycle practices across hardware, software, and systems domains.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for hardware and software configuration management across programs and functional organizations.
• Oversee CM support for proposals and program planning activities, including RFPs and SOWs to define scope and content, establish BOEs, and ensure CM activities across hardware and software are planned and resourced.
• Establish and mature CM capability across programs and business areas; assess documentation to identify CM responsibilities, risks, and dependencies.
• Lead and govern CDM practices across programs/product lines for consistency, compliance, and alignment with requirements.
• Provide leadership and mentorship to junior CM staff with clear priorities and development.
• Build cross-functional partnerships with engineering, operations, quality, supply chain, and program management to strengthen configuration control.
• Translate objectives into actionable strategies and influence priority and execution across programs.
• Represent the CDM function with authority to senior leadership, customers, auditors, and regulators.
• Serve as SME in CM domains including identification, change management, data management, and audit readiness.
• Oversee PLM systems and data governance to drive adoption of digital tooling.
• Anticipate risks and lead resolution of blocking issues spanning programs to protect business continuity and customer satisfaction.
• Ensure compliance with AS9100, EIA‑649, MIL‑STD‑973, ISO‑9001, ITAR/EAR.
